Soak up the views from Trou aux Cerfs volcano

Fancy seeing a volcano up close? Located near to the town of Curepipe, Trou aux Cerfs is a dormant volcano surrounded by lush green forest, including indigenous plants and pine trees. It’s believed to have erupted once, around 700,000 years ago, and has been dormant ever since.

The volcano’s crater sits 605 metres above sea level, with a small lake at its centre. A fantastic spot for a hike, the viewpoint gives a sweeping panorama of the island – including Rempart mountain, Trois Mamelles and the Moka mountain range.
