7 Cascades (Tamarin Falls)

7 Cascades, also known as Tamarin Falls, is the perfect reward for anyone willing to put the effort in when it comes to hiking. Located in Black River Gorges National Park, you can see as few or as many of the waterfalls as you like depending on time and fitness levels. Start from Henrietta and gaze down from the highest waterfall at 45 metres, or take on all of the waterfalls for shady hiking and opportunities to take a refreshing dip under the natural shower. If you can brave heights, you can get close enough to walk down parts of the waterfall while canyoning. Book a guide for a trip deeper into the park for a few more bonus waterfalls in Mauritius or explore more of the national park for sweeping views over its thick green canvas and glimpses of mischievous Macaque monkeys.

Cascade de Chamarel

This is the highest waterfall in Mauritius. You need special access if you want to get up close to the majestic ribbons of water or, alternatively, there are great viewing points to see the 100-metre beauty in the Chamarel 7 Coloured Earth Geopark. The Geopark is also where you can say hello to giant resident tortoises and see the multicoloured dunes the park is named after. See if you can spot the seven different earthy purples and browns that blend into each other on the dunes. For forest walks to learn about native Mauritian flora and fauna, including granite-coloured trees and pink pigeons, the Ebony Forest Reserve nearby is a must. You can climb to the top of Piton Canot for 360-degree views if you’re feeling adventurous, but it’s not needed for spectacular views of the Le Morne and the shimmering ocean. Eau Bleue

Eau Bleue is a hidden paradise. It’s found in southeast Mauritius in a village called Cluny, 45 minutes from the capital Port Louis. The main waterfall is nestled behind thick forest and tangled tree roots and once you see it, there’s no question about why Eau Bleue waterfall is called ‘blue water’. Bring your swimwear for the most memorable experience surrounded by jewel-blue water. There’s even a swing if you want to make a splash on your way in! There are actually a few waterfalls connected if you want to turn your visit into a longer experience, though most go straight to the main waterfall and pool that people know as Eau Bleue.

Cascade Léon

Cascade Léon is one of our favourite waterfalls in Mauritius. It is located in the south of the island, close to Souillac. It’s easy and accessible by following a lush path and stepping over rocks to the base of the waterfall. It’s an excellent picnic spot and you can also swim behind the waterfall for an exhilarating experience and access the hidden cave.

Cascade Mamzelle

In the wild south of Mauritius, also close to Souillac, you’ll find Cascade Mamzelle. We recommend a guide to help you explore the path to get to the waterfall, as it’s tucked away and mostly known by locals. This waterfall in Mauritius is a short distance from Gris Gris Beach, a public sandy beach with dramatic waves. Follow the signs to La Roche Qui Pleure to watch the sea crashing up on the cliff.
